On average, people spend 4 hours a day on their phones. 28 hours a week. 112 hours a month. 1,344 hours a year. That’s a LOT of mindless scrolling.

To further put that amount of time into perspective, 600 days of the next 10 years of your life will be spent on your phone. Over a year and a half. What would you do with an entire year of your life? It’s time to get our habits in check!

Somewhere between text messages, emails, social media, games, and an app for everything, our culture has lost touch with the ability to be fully present.

It’s refreshing to see companies like Apple and Instagram recognizing how too much phone time isn’t good for your mental health. When we compare our lives to what others choose to share on their highlight reel, it can be easy to feel lonely, depressed, and anxious. Apple’s Screen Time feature allows you to see how much time you’re spending on your phone, and Instagram lets you know when all new posts have been seen so you can put your phone down and get back into the world.

Communicating with our people, checking email, and using social media is not a bad thing at all. It can be a very wonderful, great thing! What we need is a healthy dose of moderation.

Here are a few easy ways you can spend less time on the phone!
