When I come home after a long day, one of my favorite things to do is light a few candles. They instantly set the mood for relaxation and allow me to unwind. Although I would love to venture into the art of candle making from scratch, I wanted to a way to make my own candles quickly with little mess involved. Figuring out how to make a candle in less than five minutes was definitely a game changer – I now want to turn all of the containers into candles.
How to Make a Candle
What’ you’ll need
- jars or containers
- wick sticks
- granulated wax
- hot glue gun
Steps
1. Select a heat-safe container. Be creative! Mugs, pots, dishes, and jars are all great choices that a little chic flair. Place a small dot of hot glue on the bottom of the container and add a wick stick.
2. Fill the container with granulated wax leaving a little room at the top. Granulated wax is super easy to work with, and it comes in a variety of colors.
3. Finally, light your candle and cozy up! Grab a blanket, a good book, and you’ll be set.
If you’d like to add fragrance to your candles, simply place the granulated wax and a few drops of liquid fragrance in a plastic bag and shake well.

Is there an easy way to add scents to this?
There sure is! You would simply put the granulated wax and a few drops of liquid fragrance in a plastic bag and shake it up. :)
Wow! Who knew! i have to try this! Thanks!
Thanks, Nicole!
Wow, that is easy. I always thought you had to mix the wax and then cool it down, but granulated wax looks easy. Is there a soy based version?
Yes! This is a much more simplified way of making candles, although the traditional way is great too. I do know Hobby Lobby has soy wax flakes – they’re not as granulated. Here’s an example: http://shop.hobbylobby.com/products/2-pound-soy-wax-for-container-candles-544692 :)
